Aside from the way that a members conduct themselves, what seperates amatuers from professionals in legal videography is the equipment used.
Following is a list of the minimum standards that equipment must meet for members
3 CCD Camera with a separate video
output for off camera recording. Video output connector must be
S-video, RCA, or BNC connection. Consumer type, 3 ring, mini AV
connectors are not acceptable. Camera must have the feature to
record using manual focus and exposure (which should be used at all
times).
Time/date generator (preferably built in to camera).
At least 3, preferably 4, lavalier
microphones.
Mixer with a minimum of four
balanced (XLR) microphone inputs and level meter.
2 video recording devices (in most
cases the camera itself will count as the primary device).
The primary recording device must
be some form of digital recording for the best possible editing and
reproduction. (DV tape is highly recommended).
Audio cassette recorder with line
or microphone level inputs
Fluid head tripod suitable for use
with the camera.
Neutral colored portable
background
Video light kit. (While the light may not necessarily be used at all times it is an important piece of equipment to have. One never knows what the lighting situation will be at a location until one arrives)
