NWLVA members do not take their duties lightly. As such members are
required to adhere to the following professional standards when on
location.
Members will arrive at the
location at least one hour prior to the scheduled start time of the
deposition for set-up. While this might seem an excessive amount of
time, there is no other way to ensure that one can clearly identify
and troubleshoot any problem that may arise during testing.
Members will always be dressed
professionally and appropriately for the setting in which they will
be working. While the individual videographer might know what is
most appropriate for his or her city it is highly recommended that
members err on the side of professionalism. Ties, jackets and
polished shoes are always a good idea for men. Likewise, women
should dress in professional business attire.
Members will always make an
audio cassette recording for the court reporter, at no charge,
unless it is specifically declined. While this is frequently looked
upon as an optional courtesy in the industry we view it as an
important to maintain good working relationships with our
colleagues. In the event that a problem arises due to technical
issues or error, a recording will be offered to the reporter made
from the video recording and delivered as soon as possible.
Audio from the mixer will always
be recorded onto both tracks of a stereo recording device. Running
the audio into the left channel only is not an acceptable practice.
If the mixer used does not give the capability to output two
channels the audio should be split.
Members will always bring at least
a single video light kit with them for depositions. While it is left
to the discretion of the member whether or not the additional light
is needed at a particular location it should always remain an
available option.
It is the responsibility of the
member booking the deposition to provide, or fairly reimburse for
the creation of, any scripts, stickers, business cards, or other
materials to be distributed.
Members that appear for a
deposition booked by another member will not use that time to
promote themselves or their individual services. The videographer on
site will use the script and hand out cards or stickers provided by
the member that booked the deposition, and introduce themselves as
appearing “on behalf of”. Any pricing questions regarding
production will be referred back to the videographer that booked the
deposition, unless arrangements have been made between the members.
